Work with us! We’re looking for a qualified and experienced Logistics Manager to join the Advanced Integrated Technologies (AIT) team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Manager (LM) will report directly to the Vice President and will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Warehouse. Responsible for the upkeep and control of all company vehicles assigned to the Warehouse. The LM will supervise subordinate personnel to ensure all duties and responsibilities assigned to the Warehouse are carried out in a routine manner. The LM must be able to obtain a DBIBS credential for base and shipyard access. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Upkeep and control of all company vehicles assigned to the Warehouse including Forklift and all material handling equipment is operated properly and safely by qualified personnel. Make sure Warehouse is kept safe and that we are adhering to compliance (OSHA, EPA, and NIOSH) standards. Responsible for installation of new equipment, safety equipment, etc. (Eye Wash Stations, safety guards, etc.) as well as the safety equipment testing and maintenance (fire extinguishers, alarms, etc…). Ensure that Forklift and all material handling equipment is operated properly and safely by qualified personnel.
- Directly responsible for shipping, receipt, and storage of all material to and from vendors, job sites, and other sources (Government, contractors, etc.) and that all material being received is segregated appropriately until receipt inspection completed. Note and report any deficiencies, errors, and shortages to the Procurement Manager. Also, the pickup and delivery of material from vendors and other locations and that all government property shipped or received is recorded and kept on file. Label, store, and transport hazardous materials (paint, gas, bottles, oil, etc.) IAW AIT regulatory policies. Transfer work trailers to and from jobsites as required. Maintain an inventory of all left over material such as pipe, plate, stock, and other material that can be sued on other projects. All material should me marked with the PO number for traceability of specifications, certifications, material type and COC’s.
- Responsible for the timely pickup and delivery of all material, tools, equipment, trailers, gang boxes, connex boxes to the waterfront to support tasking. Inventory, maintenance, proper working condition of all gang boxes, tool boxes, containers, and trailers. Before releasing to a job site, a complete inspection of all tires (if applicable), locking mechanisms, keys, satisfactory physical condition and proper operation with signage that has the company information including contact numbers. Accounting and reporting of inventory of consumable products such as rags, welding and brazing rods, gases, grinding wheels, and any material that is regularly issued to job sites on a continual basis. Maintain a complete file of any MSDS sheets required for paints, solvents, greases, or any products that pose a safety or fire hazard. Receipt of materials verifying PO information such as correct material provided, correct quantity, and satisfactory physical condition, notifying QA, Production, and Purchasing of deliveries. Includes making product returns, assessing damages, restocking and maintaining sufficient quantities of consumables to support waterfront operations with an estimation of potential stock requirements for future jobs.
- Managing the suppliers that the company will deal with and maintaining the legal interaction with them.
- Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
- Subcontractor vetting and maintenance of approved vendor’s list.
- Request and control the “certificates of insurance” during the supplier evaluation process IAW QP 8.4.3.
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carrier to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
- Ensure that the tools are electrically safety checked, maintained in a usable condition ready for issue and that the tools are issued to employees for jobs upon request. Maintain a complete chain of custody on all tools and contact the Procurement Manager for further actions when tools are not returned, missing or broke. Ensure that when all tools are purchased or received, they are assigned a unique serial number, date, and reason for addition is entered into the inventory prior to reissue. Ensure that the tool control system is implemented at all times.
- Serialize and maintain an inventory log of all company equipment and tools, vehicles and trailers. The log will include the serial number, name of the equipment/tool, value, date purchased, person checked out to and status i.e. operational, out of commission, surveyed etc. All tools and equipment will be maintained in full operational status, electrically safe, insulation intact, all guards, safety features and handles in place. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of fixed equipment such as welding machines, and air compressor. All tools and equipment will be ready for issue at all times. Any equipment that cannot be repaired and made ready for issue will be surveyed, tagged as non-issuable and segregated from the operational equipment. Directly responsible for the staging of material for ongoing and upcoming jobs ensuring that all material is properly tagged and marked with Job Number, Drawing, Item number, Ships Name.
- Responsible for tool repair (if possible). If not able to fix in-house, must report to Purchasing Manager for direction.
- Responsible for creating a daily dispatch plan that ensures efficiency while supporting all personnel.
- Responsible for making sure all subordinates are working IAW company policies and counseling when policies are not followed.
- Responsible for strict control and issuance of GFM (Govt furnished material). GFM or material that belongs to the government or removed from US Navy vessels must be segregated, tagged with task information, contract, item number and any other information that identifies the origin of the material.
- Responsible for installation of new equipment, safety equipment, etc. (Eye Wash Stations, safety guards, etc.)
- Responsible for ensuring state inspections and maintenance needs are completed when required with direct approval.
- Label, store and transport hazardous materials (paint, gas, bottles, oil, etc.) IAW AIT regulatory policies.
- Transfer work trailers to and from jobsites as required
- Responsible for safety equipment testing and maintenance (fire extinguishers, alarms, etc.)
- Supervise subordinate personnel to ensure all duties and responsibilities assigned to the Warehouse are carried out in a routine manner. Assign duties to drivers and create a daily dispatch plan that ensures efficiency while supporting all personnel. Making sure all subordinates are working IAW company policies and counseling when policies are not followed.
- Must be able to obtain proper credentials for base and shipyard access
- Knowledge in SPEC Items/Drawings. Previous management and supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple operations. Minimum 3 years in general inventory and warehousing processes. Must have a working knowledge of pneumatic and electrically operated tools, vehicle maintenance, shop equipment and supply chain logistics. Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project are a must. Software inventory and database management a plus. Strong organizational skills. Excellent communicator that works well as a member of a support staff supporting multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet critical deadlines.
- Ensure that the tools are electrically safety checked, maintained in a usable condition, ready for issue, and that the tools are issued to employees for jobs upon request. - Responsible for all tool issues and associated forms.
- Will be expected to provide weekend support as needed and any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Reviewing POR’s for adequate funding, completeness, adherence to specifications and customer purchase orders. Receive and review all POR’s and verify requirements are met IAW QP 8.4 prior to submitting the POR’s to the Purchasing Manager. (Procurement specialist will generate POR’s and allocate to the appropriate accounting.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The Logistics Manager should have previous management and supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple operations. A minimum three years in general inventory and warehousing processes. Must have a working knowledge of pneumatic and electrically operated tools, vehicle maintenance, shop equipment and supply chain logistics.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project are a must, experience in software inventory and database management a plus. The candidate should have strong organizational skills. Must be an excellent communicator that works well as a member of a support staff supporting multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet critical deadlines.
